And, that using modules as part of that context is a fair and reasonable part of playing the game.

I find too often that those who seek to impose definitions of what the game should be are often unwilling to see/hear opposing or alternative definitions.

As a GM of many years experience, I find prep to be a form of play. The world becomes much more real when players explore it, of course. And one of the most entertaining parts of GMing for me is to listen to player speculation (and sometimes change the world to match their conjectures, because they're cool!)Keith Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00059044388944936192noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1801483473113363785.post-82595044834952155342013-05-08T10:46:59.070-04:002013-05-08T10:46:59.070-04:00Great post! I came here by way of, ahem, a certain grumpy blog that I like to keep tabs on...because, you know, snobbery makes me rubberneck like some people stare at car accidents. Keep on keepin' on, and I hope you know that there are a lot more people in your mental neighborhood than there are...uh, certain grumpy old "Taoists."Anthony Simeonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04312134763577949405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1801483473113363785.post-62629280440801999082013-05-06T23:06:37.815-04:002013-05-06T23:06:37.815-04:00Very well said!Very well said!Jacob Marleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14676710938064164554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1801483473113363785.post-72917741079742425572013-05-06T15:24:55.891-04:002013-05-06T15:24:55.891-04:00Well said, RC.Well said, RC.Black Vulmeahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04270071699114783644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1801483473113363785.post-59566062748499993672013-05-06T13:55:51.712-04:002013-05-06T13:55:51.712-04:00Well said. In fact, "White Plume Mountain" was designed during the days when it was assumed that every DM created and managed his or her own world, so pre-packaged scenarios had to be adaptable to almost any milieu. Fully-fleshed-out campaign worlds weren't common until the mid-1980s, and even then few people used them without making changes tailored to individual campaigns.
